Composition and Terms
The Planning and Zoning Commission shall consist of nine (9) members, who shall be appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the city council. Each member shall have been a resident of the city for a period of not less than six (6) months immediately preceding his/her appointment, shall be a qualified voter of the state, and shall not be delinquent in the payment of any accounts due to the city or property taxes assessed by the city, the Aransas Pass Independent School District, San Patricio, Aransas or Nueces Counties or other political subdivisions with taxation authority within San Patricio, Aransas or Nueces Counties. The term “delinquent” means failure or refusal to pay such account or taxes to the appropriate authority on or before one hundred twenty (120) days from the billing thereof. All members shall serve without pay and shall not be a paid employee of the city. The term shall be for three years. Members are appointed and confirmed and serve from and after the date of their respective appointments for the following terms: three shall serve for one term of three years; three shall serve for one term of two years; and three shall serve for one term of one year. The chairman shall be appointed by the mayor and confirmed by the city council.
