Overview

The Public Works Streets Department performs construction, reconstruction, repairs and maintenance city owned streets and on curbs and gutters within the city.

Streets & Drainage Facts

The Department is responsible for:

  • Maintaining approximately 70 miles of roadway
  • Maintaining over 7 miles of ditches
  • Collection of about 10,000 cubic yards of brush each year at the Transfer Station
  • Demolition of substandard housing
  • Herbicide application and weed control
  • Install and maintain all street signs
  • Installation and maintenance of drainage ditches and pipes
  • Maintain and operate three stormwater pump stations
  • Mowing grass and trimming trees in the City’s right-of-ways

Fees

  • Aransas Pass Residents with voucher- Standard truck load: $0.00, without voucher $20.00.   If you are an Aransas Pass resident you can get one (1) voucher per month from the Utilities front desk at City Hall.  Please bring a current TX ID and current City of Aransas Pass utility bill to obtain a voucher
  • Aransas Pass Residents- 14’-16’ Trailer: $35.00, Trailer with walls or greater than 16’: $50.00
  • Tires- Up to R20 size: $5.00 per tire

Collection Status Customers Notice

Beginning November 1, 2016, as per state and TCEQ permit regulations, the city Citizens’ Collection Station will accept items from city residents only. Residents must present a voucher which can be obtained at City Hall by bringing a current TX ID and current City of Aransas Pass utility bill.   Commercial customers will no longer be allowed to drop off debris or materials. In addition, brush will no longer be accepted at this location. Thank you for your cooperation.
